Power-Video-Data Application Concepts

NVT's PVD range is designed to allow low-voltage Power, CCTV Video, and Pan/Tilt/Zoom telemetry (data) to share a 4-pair UTP cable out to the camera. RJ45 wiring pinouts are compatible with industry standard EIA/TIA568B. Additionally, with the exception of 24VAC, these signals may share the same wiring backbone as other signals, such as telecom or datacom.

Wire Distance

Wire distance is limited to the shortest of:

  1. The maximum end-to-end video distance as specified for the video transceivers used
  2. The maximum end-to-end data distance as specified by the manufacturer (typically over 3,000 ft), or
  3. The maximum voltage drop from the power supply out to the camera as specified below:

Notes: wire can be category 2 or better. low-voltage camera power, video, and RS-422 or RS-485 may be sent within the same wire bundle. Do not run 24 VAC or 28 VAC in the same wire bundle with other telecom or datacom signals.

NV-218A-PVD Wiring

Power-Video-Data Integration

The NV-704J-PVD and the NV-716J-PVD Power-Video-Data Integrators are wiring interconnection devices designed to foster quick modular signal and power distribution for 4-camera or 16-camera installations.

NV-704J-PVD Wiring

The NV-704J-PVD supports up to four cameras. Connection to each camera is via an RJ45 jack with pinouts that are the same as the NV-218A-PVD. Connections to the control room can be made using one of the following two options:

When employing this 3-camera-plus-data solution, the data path will need to be connected separately at the control room either with a second NV-704J-PVD, or with a punch-block or other wiring device:

NV-716J-PVD Wiring

The NV-716J-PVD supports up to 16 cameras (four groups each with up to four cameras.) Each camera has its own 4-pair RJ45 jack and 4-pair cable. Low voltage power is brought in locally via a screwless terminal block on the NV-716J-PVD. Each group of four video signals is combined and sent to the control room on one RJ45 jack and 4-pair cable. If required, data is brought back to the control room via an additional separate RJ45 jack and 4-pair cable.
